Message From President Matt Tollefson:
Students of South Dakota State University,
First let me start by saying thank you. It is truly an honor and privilege to represent such a diverse and outstanding student body. It is my hope that this year I will make an impact in the lives of students here at SDSU. My Vice President, Michael Kendall, and I would like to invite all of you to stop by the Students’ Association office. Let us know what you would like to see changed at SDSU. We are your elected representation and if we do not know what concerns you have we can not fully do our job. Once again we look forward to meeting you and hearing your concerns!
Some things to look forward to for the upcoming year:
-Increased communication between students and the Students’ Association.
-Launching of the Alternative Learning cloud. This will provide 600 new wireless access points throughout campus.
-Bike lanes through campus and in the city of Brookings connecting campus with the city.
-The construction of the new Residence Hall and Union expansion with the opening set for the fall of 2010.
-Opening of the New Harding Hall.
-Completion of Avera Health and Sciences Center in the summer of 2010.
-A new season of Jackrabbit Athletics.
-A new season of activities from the music and theater department.
Along with these highlights there are numerous events and activities that you can get involved in. I strongly encourage all of you to get involved in something. Take full advantage of the years that you are in college. Study abroad, join The Pride, participate in the Intramural Belly Flop contest, take in every part of Hobo Week, or see which couch in the union is the most comfortable. However you choose to spend your time at SDSU is up to you, but make sure it is something that you will remember. With all of the new exciting changes that we have coming up in the next year it is easy to see that “It’s a great day to be a Jackrabbit!”
Sincerely,
Matt Tollefson
