Community Service & Social:

This committee is in charge of socials within the chapter and among other Greek chapters on campus.  Within the chapter, the girls to sisterhood events like baking and movie nights.  Events with other chapters include bowling, ice-skating, and game nights.  The community service projects the chapter participates in include Natural Tie, Adopt-a-Highway, Relay for Life, and the Children's Miracle Network Dance.  A more in depth look at these events can be seen under the "Philanthropy" tab at the top of the page.

Alumnae Relations:

The alumnae relations committee is in charge of keeping up contact with the alumnae, preparing the newsletter, and the adopt an alumnae program.  The newsletter is published once a semester and has information on the status of the current chapter as well as some interesting happenings for the semester.  Ceres' adopt an alumnae program has active members paired up with alumnae.  They are able to keep in contact through emails and letters.

Recruitment & Publicity:

The recruitment and publicity committee has a big job to do at the beginning of the semester.  They work to advertise recruitment events for girls who are interested in Ceres to learn more about it.  After these activities are done, this committee continues to work to have Ceres continue to be recognized around campus.  The final task of this committee is to take pictures throughout the semester to prepare for creation of the scrapbook to remember events that went on during the semester.

Founders Day & Family Day:

This committee is in charge of the biggest sisterhood events of the semester.  Founders Day is an evening of dresses, dinner, and dancing complete with an awards ceremony and initiation of new members.  This fall formal event allows the ladies of Ceres to bring a date and celebrate formal style.  Family Day is the new member ceremony in the spring.  It is a semi-formal event for women to bring their family members to enjoy an afternoon of fun and sisterhood.  This committee is also in charge of the slideshow that plays during the ceremony.

Fundraising & Scholarship

There are several fundraisers for the chapter throughout the semester that are organized through this committee to help gain funding for important projects in the chapter.  Scholarship is something that the ladies of Ceres Women's Fraternity hold in high regard.  The chapter has held the high GPA for ten running semesters.  Through study tables, the women are required to study outside of their residences for differing increments of time depending on their grade point average from the previous semester.  Now, the chapter will have mandatory study time in the Student Union on Wednesday nights to add to the accountability and ease of this program.

Agricultural Orientation:

Because not every Ceres woman came from a rural background, agricultural orientation is something that we make sure to incorporate into the chapter.  Each business meeting, a "fun farm fact" is given for the entertainment of the chapter actives.  Also, in the spring of each year, Ceres holds an Ag Fair for area third and fourth graders throughout the community.  This is an opportunity for some children who have not been on farms to actually see and learn about the animals (and even for some of the Ceres women to learn something as well).

New House:

The ultimate goal of this committee is to raise funding for Ceres to have its own house on Greek Row.  This includes fundraising and organization to get things going.  With a five to ten year plan, this committee stays busy considering different options for housing opportunities.
