Chapter Meeting – Rotunda D
September 24th, 2008

President
Dustin Schrader called the meeting to order. The minutes were sent via
e-mail and approved. Treasurers report: checking - $19866.69; savings -
$1377.15; university account - $190.58.

President Dustin Schrader explained the points system for APhA-ASP.
Points are given for participation in events and go towards
reimbursement for national meeting.

APhA-ASP will be participating in “On Call” a weekly TV show
featuring different medical topics each week. APhA-ASP will be
helping with the show on October 16th at 8:00pm in
Pugsley Room 300. E-mail sdsu_asp@yahoo.com if you are interested
in helping.

October is American Pharmacists Month. APhA-ASP is considering
collaborating with other South Dakota Pharmacist organizations for
promotion. Rob Sayles moved to spend up to $1000 for pharmacist
month promotion. John Sandstrom seconded the motion. Nicholas Hite
amended the motion to include that APhA-ASP spend up to $1000 for
pharmacist month promotion only if matching funds are provided by
South Dakota Pharmacist organizations. The amended motion was
seconded by John Sandstrom. Motion passed.

The bylaws were revised on Thursday, September 18th. The
revision committee requests that APhA-ASP members review the
revisions which are posted on the SDSU APhA-ASP website.

Hobo Day is October 4th – anyone who would like to help
with the College of Pharmacy float should contact Courtney Larson
(calarson3135@jacks.sdstate.edu) or Mallory Onisk (mlonisk@jacks.sdstate.edu).

Pre-Pharmacy liaison applications are available at
www.studentorgs.sdstate.org/asp. The deadline for application
submission is October 5, 2008.

The APhA-ASP Midyear Regional Meeting is on November 7-9 in Sioux
Falls, SD. Visit www.pharmacist.com/students to register for the
meeting.

Nagel motioned to adjourn the meeting, Claudia McIntosh seconded,
meeting adjourned. The next meeting is October 8th in
Sioux Falls.

President Dustin Schrader called the meeting to order.
The minutes were sent via e-mail and approved. Treasurers report:
checking - $22589.22; savings - $1077.17; university account - $40.58.
Old Business:

Michaela Oetken attended the University of Utah
School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies in June. She will
give a report about her experience at a later meeting. APhA-ASP’s
SDSU chapter hopes to send at least two members to the meeting next
year.

Jenna DeMers and Michaela Oetken attended the APhA-ASP
Summer Leadership Institute meeting in Washington D.C. in July.
They brought back ideas from the meeting to contribute to the
chapter.

The first annual Pharmacy Student Organization Fair
was held on September 8th. The event was successful with
more than 175 students in attendance. After the Student
Organization Fair, APhA-ASP hosted a welcome back picnic which was
sponsored by the South Dakota Pharmacists Association.
Congratulations to Ryan Durant who was the winner of the Nintendo
Wii.

The membership drive will be held during the
September 24th meeting – arrive at 6:15pm to begin

Jansen seconded, meeting adjourned. The next meeting is September
24th in Brookings.
